Candidates must possess B.E./ B.Tech or equivalent qualification in Telecom/ Electronics/ Radio/ Computer/ Electrical/ Information Technology/ Instrumentation Engineering or M.Sc. (Electronics)/ M.Sc. (Computer Science); AND are required to appear GATE exam 2017, opting one paper from selected four disciplines of GATE paper codes i.e. CS/ EC/ EE/ IN.
Candidate shall not be below 18 years and not exceed 30 years as on the last date of receipt of Online applications. However, the upper age limit relaxation is as per the standing instructions of Government of India.
Candidates willing to join Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), are suggested to enroll themselves for GATE 2017 within 04-October-2016. For detailed information on GATE 2017 and online submission of application for GATE 2017, interested candidates may log on to any of the following IITs/ IISC websites. Candidates can apply to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) only after getting GATE-2017 Admit Card.
Fee for online Registration: The online registration shall commence from 06-03-2017 and shall close on 06-04-2017. The prescribed examination fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five hundred only) for OC/OBC candidates and of Rs.300/- (Rupees three Hundred only) for SC/ST candidates shall be paid through online mode i.e. Internet Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card only.

The candidates selected shall execute a Bond in the format as specified by the Company to serve in BSNL for a period of two years from the date of their appointment as JTO(T) ( JUNIOR TELECOM OFFICER TELECOM) or a period as specified by BSNL for the post from time to time. The candidates selected shall have to successfully undergo training.
GATE 2017 Registration:
Online application process for GATE-2017 has already started from 1st September 2016 and closes on 4th October 2016. Eligible candidates who wish to apply for the position of Junior Telecom Officer (JTO) in BSNL will be required to first apply for GATE 2017. Candidates can apply to BSNL only after getting GATE-2017 Admit Card.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is considered as the backbone of communication in India with its widespread reach and deep intervention into the remotest destinations of the country. Incorporated in the year 2000 with amalgamation of Department of Telecom Services (DTS) and Department of Telecom Operations (DOT), this has become the national communication network of India with vast stretch across the length and breadth of the country. BSNL has been instrumental in implementing ICT in the villages, offering broadband services, data through optical fiber network, DTH services and offering data services over VPN as well as Satellite network throughout and even to the other countries. The BSNL is having a wide network with coverage of 117 million consumers from 623 districts, 7330 cities/ towns and 5.8 lakhs villages under its telecom operation. BSNL covers the entire country, except that for Delhi and Mumbai, where the telecom operations are controlled under Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL). A job in BSNL is considered as one of the highly reputed jobs, being of central government profile. There are many layers of operation, for which competent manpower is recruited, and among which, Junior Telecomm Officer (JTO) is one of the most vital nodes of operation.
Junior Telecom Officer (JTO): A Job with BSNL has always enticed the youth of the country with its wide-array of job profiles for different cadres of educational standards and practical experience. The Job of Junior Telecom Officer (JTO) is considered as one of the highly coveted profiles of jobs in the array of hierarchy of BSNL in its organizational structure. It is primarily responsible for handling core technical aspects, such as network management, troubleshooting, and operation of network under a specific circle of operation. Usually JTO posts are controlled at the circle level and job recruitments are done at Circle level for manning the technical nodes, for smooth running of the network. As the national telecom operator, there is a complex network of communication, which is spread around the nation and even abroad. The role of a JTO at the base-level, hence, is considered quite vital in smooth running and maintenance of the entire network at any specific node.
Like every year BSNL will be conducting Junior Telecom Officer Recruitment 2016-17 for the current year. The positions will carry an All India Service Liability (AISL) with postings at specific telecom circle.
To join BSNL in the profile of JTO, a person must be a technical graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology Degree in specific branch of engineering. Usually fresh graduates are preferred for these posts as they have the potency and vigor to carry-out the tasks in more efficient manner. These graduates are subjected to training and probation on joining the service and are inducted in full-scale as they complete their preliminary probation. They also need to sign a Service Agreement Bond with the BSNL.
As far as age is concerned, the applicants interested to apply for BSNL JTO need to have acquired at least 21 years of age and should not exceed 30 years as per the dates of reckoning. However, for privileged categories, this norm is relaxed. The upper age limit is also relaxed for in-service applicants of BSNL as per the company norms. The candidates who are selected as JTO in BSNL serve the company till the age of superannuation and they also enjoy various retirement benefits as per company norms.
BSNL caters to central government profile of jobs. The JTOs are often placed in an IDA Pay Band (equivalent to PB-II). The JTOs are inducted in the company in the Junior Management Grade Scale and are provided various other facilities such as DA, HRA, Medical reimbursement, Leave encashment and other such facilities.
