Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited came into existence in September, 1987 as a public sector undertaking. It is a wholly government owned organisation that was created with an objective of designing, construction, maintenance and operation of atomic power stations for various uses. As its introduction suggests, being a nuclear power sector it is managed by Department of Atomic Energy. NPCIL is one its kind company in India that works using nuclear fuel sources. All nuclear plants of NPCIL are ISO – 14001 certified for Environment Management System.
